Beliefs
The following are the beliefs of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the holy, inspired, and perfect Word of God. the Bible is wholly sufficient as divine instruction and authority in all matters of life and faith. "All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of revelation".
God
There is only one true God. He exists eternally and coequally as God the Father, God the Son (Christ Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. We believe God is the Creator of the universe and that according to Scripture He created the heavens and the earth in six 24 hour days. Jesus Christ is our Sovereign Lord and Savior who while still God was also wholly man. He lived a sinless life, gave His life for us on the cross, was dead, buried, and resurrected on the third day. He ascended to heaven where He is now at the right hand of our Father's throne. "He will return in power and glory to judge the world and consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and present Lord". The Holy Spirit is present in the world convicting people of sin, proclaiming and enabling us to know truth, and exalting Christ. He is the comfort and strength of all who seek Him and "He enlightens and empowers the believers and the church in worship, evangelism, and service".
Man
“Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image”. Man, in his exercise of the free will God gave him, sinned against God and brought about a separation between himself and God. All men inherit this sinful nature.
Salvation
Salvation is the redemption of man and is offered by God as His free gift to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. “There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord”. Salvation cannot be achieved, only received.
Eternal Security
All who profess true faith in God, through His Son Christ Jesus, are eternally secured in and by His grace.
Baptism
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of faithful obedience and an outward sign of an inward spiritual transformation. In Baptism, we celebrate the believer’s resurrection to a new life in Christ Jesus.
The Lord's Supper
In partaking of the bread and the cup we memorialize the sacrificial death of our Lord and anticipate His second coming.
Evangelism
We believe it is the duty of every follower of Christ to participate in the Great Commission and seek to show God’s love by witnessing on behalf of what Christ has done in their life.
Last Things
“God, in His own time and His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end”. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and victoriously to judge all men and to rule over a new heaven and a new earth.
