I was saved at the age of thirteen in a revival service, under my father’s pastorate, at Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Collettsville, NC. I was called to preach my freshman year of high school at Wilkes Grove Baptist Church, in Hickory, NC.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion at Gardner-Webb College and a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary. My pastoral experience includes Associate Pastor in Shelby, NC, while attending Gardner-Webb; Minister of Youth and Children in Sanford, NC, during my seminary days at Southeastern; and Senior Pastor of churches in Boone, Hickory, Greensboro, Randleman, and Cherryville.
During my pastoral leadership in churches, I have established the Deacon-Family Ministry Plan, Crisis-Care Counseling; launched the CARE Ministry plan; taught Experiencing God, FAITH, Share Jesus Without Fear, and Watch-Care classes to new members. I worked with the Catawba Valley Association to establish a partnership with churches in Sorocaba, Brazil. I have had the opportunity to preach in three churches in Manchester, England, serving as co-director of the Greater Gaston/England partnership.
I am married to Donna Proctor Staton. Donna teaches elementary music for Catawba County Schools. My son, Steven, is a church planter with the North American Mission Board in Cincinnati, Ohio. His family consists of wife, Samantha, and two children, Syler and Sterling. My daughter, Leah Niglio, teaches English for Burke County Schools. Her family consists of husband, Gianni, and two children, Liliana and Gustavo.
